Since 2000, OffenderWatch® has partnered with law enforcement agencies across the nation to develop solutions for sex offender registration, verification, and community notification. Over the last two decades, their core technology and network has evolved with the input of thousands of users. The OffenderWatch® network group has given insight into not only meeting the minimum requirements of the laws, but also meeting the public safety intent.
The Idaho Sheriffs’ Association has partnered with OffenderWatch® to provide this tool for our 44 county sheriffs’ offices and for the public at large. The tool is also supported and utilized by other Idaho law enforcement entities. When a local agency or sheriff’s office updates information on a sex offender in OffenderWatch® , it is automatically updated across the entire state network. This provides real time information to our sheriffs about the presence and whereabouts of sex offenders who are required by law to report their addresses and any movements.
OffenderWatch® provides the public with tools to search sex offender registry records by name or address, or use the dynamic map to find registered offenders living nearby. Their app also alerts our sheriffs when new offenders move into each county and their app can also help the public stay informed if a registered sex offender moves into the neighborhood with alerts that provide their names, addresses, photos, and case details.
